24-Hour Day of Service

Large-Scale Service Project

The 24-Hour Day of Service is an annual event put on by Circle K at UW-Platteville's Large-Scale Service Project Committee. This year's event will be held Saturday April 13th at 1 pm - Sunday April 14th at 1 pm. Volunteers can serve at as much or as little as possible. Below are the fun things we will be doing this year.

1.       Highway clean up (1pm-2pm): Join us and the UW-Platteville Alchemist’s Club during the highway clean up

2.       St. Luke’s Food for the Soul (3:30pm-6:30pm): Join us in assisting St. Luke’s Methodist Church make and serve their weekly free dinner for people from all walks of life in Dubuque, IA.

3.       Make and Take with the Kids (3:30pm-5pm): Help make a variety of crafty and educational things with the local children of Platteville, WI at the Public Library.

4.       Set up for Loud at the Library (5-6pmish): Come volunteer once again at the Platteville Public Library for their live music event.

5.       Free Rice Game and Friendship Bracelets (7:30-9:00): Events will pick back up in Southwest Hall with the Free Rice Game and making friendship bracelets for first year campers at Camp Wawbeek.

6.       Making Dog Toys (9:00pm-11:00pm): Meet us in Southwest Hall in the conference rooms to create dog toys for local Humane Societies in the area from old Alchemist club shirts.

7.       Awareness Ribbons (making) (11:00pm-12:30pm): Assemble child Abuse Awareness Ribbons to be handed out later during our can drive.

8.       Baking cookies (12:30pm-2:00am): Help us bake cookies for local Police, Fire, and EMS services.

9.       Plarning (2:30am-4:00am): Create a huge ball of plarn (Plastic yarn from bags) to be later used in creating materials like sleep mats and bags for the homeless.

10.   Color a smile (4:00am-4:30am): Help brighten a few days with Color a Smile which are sent to people who really need it.

11.   “Take what you need” sheets(4:30am-5:30am) : Come up with tear-away motivational sayings to be put up around campus for anyone who needs it.

12.   Decorate Meals on Wheels (5:30am-6:30am): Bring a little color into the brown bags that make their way to Meals on Wheels recipients.

13.   Can Drive/hand out Awareness Ribbons at Piggly Wiggly (9 am to 12pm): Help us collect non-perishables for the campus food pantry Pioneer Provisions while also handing out awareness ribbons for child abuse.

14.   Banana social at manor care (12:30-1pm): Join us at Edenbrook and brighten the days of the residents with both yellow produce and conversation.
